Tualatin River Watershed Council Grant Support/Participation Criteria
Please see the timeline for Council support or participation. The
Council cannot support or review grant proposals or projects without
adequate time
Potential activities for the Council’s involvement include:
- Celebrations
- Cleanups
- Educational or informational brochures
- Grant funding
- Public meetings or forums
- Recreational activities
- Streamside enhancement
- Watershed improvement projects
- Tours
- Workshops
- Seminars
- Conferences
- Land or easement acquisition
Participation by the Council might include

- In cooperation with
- Organized by
- Sponsored by
What level of support are you requesting?
There are two levels of support which the Council can give on a project.

For a letter of support or for a signature on an Oregon Watershed
Enhancement Board grant proposal (or other proposal
with a similar format) the Steering Committee will evaluate the proposal.
(Please note: if the project involves acquiring land, easements, or
water rights, the full Council will need to review the project.)

For Council Participation as a partner, sponsor, or host of an activity
or project (i.e. plays a role in the project) the
full Council will review the project.
If the project involves acquiring land, easements or water rights,
the full Council will need to review the project.
Timeline for requesting Council involvement:
All projects proposed for Council letter of support, signature, or
participation should have a one page summary (description below) AND
a draft of the full grant proposal presented to the Council the second
Thursday of the month prior to the grant deadline.
The request will be evaluated with regard to our mission, vision,
action plan, the factors for Council involvement listed below, and whether
or not we have the resources to participate at the level requested.
Any Council members with a conflict of interest will recuse themselves
from the decision-making process.
One Page Summary - submit to Council
The one page summary should contain
the following information:

Project summary. Describe:

what will happen,

where the activity
will happen,
-
and why the activity is needed.

Describe how the proposed activity relates to the Tualatin River
Watershed Council Action Plan, as well as the Councilís mission
and goals. Identify who is involved.

Identify the
lead group, other partners, and their roles.

Briefly describe the project timeline

Cost of project, sources of income and match funding
-
Identify specifically the type, duration and amount of involvement
requested from the Council
Factors considered in determining Council involvement or support:

Consistency with the Councilís mission and vision
-
Consistency with the Council'ís Action Plan
-
Clear and descriptive application
-
Clear and descriptive statement of need
-
Degree of coordination with partners (if appropriate)

Amount of in-kind match (if appropriate)

Appropriate budget for the proposed project

Occurs within or pertaining to the watershed

Not part of required mitigation

Benefit to watershed

Demonstrates efficient use of grant funds

Applicant abilities
Vision: A balanced ecosystem that supports a healthy watershed, provides
for an economic base and viable communities.
Mission: To foster better stewardship and understanding of the Tualatin
River watershed resources; address natural resource issues; and ensure
sustainable watershed health, functions, and uses.
